Flights between Inverness and Dublin are set to double during selected periods as Aer Lingus Regional increases its service from two to four flights a week.

The expanded timetable, operated by Emerald Airlines, will begin on 25 September and continue until 26 October 2026, giving passengers greater choice between the Highlands and the Irish capital.

The service will return to two flights a week during winter before four weekly flights resume from 14 March 2027 and continue until 22 October.

That return has been deliberately timed ahead of St Patrick’s Day, opening up considerably more options for Highland travellers planning a few days in Dublin during one of Ireland’s biggest celebrations.

The extra frequency also strengthens Inverness Airport’s international connectivity beyond Ireland itself.

Passengers can travel through Dublin and connect with the wider Aer Lingus network, including transatlantic services to New York JFK.

Dublin offers an additional advantage for passengers heading to the United States because US immigration and customs preclearance facilities allow travellers to complete the formalities before boarding their transatlantic flight.

For the Highlands, the decision to increase frequency is also an encouraging indication of how the relatively new Dublin route is performing.

“Since commencing, the route has been warmly welcomed by customers on both sides of the Irish Sea.

“The additional flights will provide even greater convenience for our customers, along with excellent onward connectivity to North America through the wider Aer Lingus network.”

The additional flights will give travellers more flexibility for short breaks and business journeys while making Dublin a more practical connecting airport for longer trips.

The timetable will operate four times weekly from 25 September until 26 October before returning to twice weekly between 27 October and 13 March.

Four flights a week will then resume from 14 March until 22 October 2027.

For Highland travellers, Dublin is becoming considerably more than somewhere to spend a very enjoyable weekend.

With more direct flights and onward connections across the Atlantic, it is increasingly becoming another international gateway from Inverness.
