Isles MP Encourages Applications to The Board of David MacBrayne Limited

Na h-Eileanan an Iar MP Angus MacNeil stresses the need for island input on decisions regarding the ferry network and is encouraging island residents to apply for the role of Non-Executive Director on the Board of David MacBrayne Limited.

David MacBrayne Limited is the parent company of the major subsidiary business, CalMac Ferries Ltd, and is owned by the Scottish Government.

Scottish Ministers are now looking to appoint a Non-Executive Director with direct knowledge and understanding of the needs and aspirations of rural and island communities.

Mr MacNeil said:

“It is of paramount importance that the islands are fully represented when decisions on ferries are made, which have direct consequences for our island communities.

“That is why I would encourage potential candidates from Na h-Eileanan an Iar who have the relevant skills, to apply for this role. 

This will ensure that decisions made regarding ferries to and from the islands are not made solely by those not living in the islands, or without any knowledge of the needs and aspirations of our communities.”
