KAMM’s New 912T Brings Sophistication and Soul to a Motoring Icon

There’s a particular kind of beauty in taking something already loved and making it better without taking anything away.

That’s the approach taken by KAMManufaktur, the Budapest-based marque that has become world-renowned for reimagining the Porsche 912, not by modernising it beyond recognition, but by listening carefully to what made it special in the first place and letting that speak louder than ever.

Founded by Miklós Kázmér, KAMM builds just one car, the Porsche 912, produced between 1965 and 1969 and has spent years quietly perfecting it with a blend of craftsmanship, mechanical purity and obsessive attention to detail that’s increasingly rare in today’s automotive world.

While the 912 was long overshadowed by its more powerful sibling, the 911, those who drove it knew it offered something different, a lighter chassis, a better balance, a soulful four-cylinder engine, and a level of feedback that made every mile feel like a conversation between driver and machine.

It’s that purity of experience that KAMM protects, even as it refines the car’s capabilities with modern materials, smarter engineering and an unshakable sense of restraint.

Each KAMM 912 begins with a donor car stripped back to bare metal and built back up with precision, its original steel panels replaced by flawless carbon fibre that reduces weight while preserving the car’s classic shape and stance.

From suspension geometry to pedal feel, from brake calibration to the custom wiring loom, every element is touched by a philosophy that says the driver comes first and that character matters more than complexity.

Nothing is added that doesn’t belong.

Nothing is included that doesn’t serve the drive.

“We improve on perfection without compromise,” says Kázmér, and when you see the result, the balance, the posture, the way the car sits on its wheels like it’s meant to be there, you understand exactly what he means.

The 912T, KAMM’s latest creation, builds on that same vision with a slightly different purpose, it’s still featherlight, still exquisitely built, still connected in a way most modern sports cars are not, but it brings in a new layer of comfort, refinement and everyday usability for those who prefer their driving thrills with a longer view of the road ahead.

This is a touring car in the truest sense, engineered not just for twisty backroads, but for long journeys where you want to feel the road without being worn out by it, with comfort-focused seats from Italian masters Fusina, recalibrated suspension, a quieter touring exhaust and the option of discreet luxuries like wireless charging and a hidden Bluetooth audio system.

It’s still powered by the reworked air-cooled 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine KAMM is known for, producing 163hp and 201Nm of torque and still uses a beautifully modified 901 dogleg gearbox that’s been tuned for smoother delivery and a more touring-oriented shift pattern.

The result is a car that doesn’t shout, but speaks clearly, precisely, and with just enough bite when the road calls for it.

With build slots strictly limited and prices starting from €245,000, the 912T is not a car for the masses, but then, it was never meant to be.

This is a machine for those who care deeply about how a car feels, who know the difference between fast and fulfilling, and who believe that less, when done right, is still more.

KAMM hasn’t modernised the 912.

They’ve honoured it with grace, with skill, and with purpose.
