Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, has today announced a one-year extension to its flight service between Stornoway and Benbecula following negotiations with the Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council).
The new agreement which commences from Friday 1 April will operate up to five flights a week Tuesday to Thursday with fares from £39.99 one way.
The route, often coined a lifeline service, maintains key connectivity within the islands as well as to the mainland at Inverness for the essential provision of healthcare.
Loganair has operated the Stornoway-Benbecula service since 2010, following the collapse of Highland Airways, and has continued to fly throughout the pandemic.

We know how important this service is to the residents of the Western Isles and we are delighted to confirm we will be providing flights for another year.
“This agreement further demonstrates our commitment to the Scottish islands both as a provider of this lifeline service and as a key employer within the local communities of Stornoway and Benbecula.”
A spokesperson for the Comhairle said:
“The Comhairle has invested an additional £160k and remains committed to providing this essential service.
“The Comhairle will continue to lobby for additional funds to allow for a return to a five-day service.”
