Highland Hospice is inviting locals to sponsor a light on one of their Christmas trees and to make a dedication in memory of a loved one, to honour a friend, or simply in support of the hospice – an initiative which has been running for over 25 years.

Andrew Leaver, Head of Fundraising and Development, said:

“Generally, we would gather round the tree to switch on the lights, celebrate those we love and support the Hospice, but of course this year is different.

“Please join us for our online service at 6pm on 1st December on our Facebook page instead.”

Eastgate Centre is hosting two trees for the Hospice this year, one on Falcon Square which will be a beacon of light and one inside the Centre next to the Hospice Café In the City, and Santa’s Magical Grotto.

The third will be located at the Hospice Inpatient Unit.

The tree inside the Eastgate Centre will display the dedications to loved ones made by Hospice light sponsors.

Andrew Leaver, Head of Fundraising and Development, added:

“None of this would be possible without the support of local businesses and we are hugely grateful to everyone who has supplied or helped erect our trees.

“Together we can Light up the Highlands.”

“This is a true example of partnership with so many local companies coming together to support Highland Hospice in the true spirit of Christmas” said Jackie Cuddy, Centre Manager.

The tree on Falcon Square has been donated for the second year running by Aigas Community Forest, with Eastgate Centre providing the lights.

In addition, several local building and construction firms have helped.

James Paterson Haulage Ltd are transporting the tree and base, whilst WGC Scotland Ltd will be there to erect it on the square.

The tree will be standing proud of place filling Falcon Square with sparkle from Thursday 19th November.

The Innes family at IBI are providing the tree at In the City Café in loving memory of Linda Chisholm.

With Black Isle Christmas Trees providing and Tulloch Homes erecting the tree for Hospice staff, patients and visitors outside Highland Hospice at Ness House.
