Living Well Hub Opens in Scalloway

A Living Well Hub in Scalloway is now open on Wednesdays, following the success of the Living Well Hub in Brae that opened last November.

The Living Well Hubs offer an informal drop-in service for anyone who needs to find out more about local health and social care support options.

These might include local community groups or voluntary organisations, as well as referrals to services provided by Shetland Islands Council or NHS Shetland, where necessary.

Living Well Hubs are part of the roll-out of the Community Led Support (CLS) programme in Scotland, which aims to link communities with health and social care services.

Funding for Hubs is provided by the Shetland Integration Joint Board and the Scottish Government, through an agreement with NDTi, the National Development Team for inclusion, who support CLS throughout the UK.

The Living Well Hub in Scalloway is open on Wednesdays from 1pm to 5pm at the Scalloway Youth and Community Centre, on Main Street.

The timing coincides with an Over-60s group that takes place around that time but the Hub is open to anyone who feels they might need to access services or support.

Ruth MacMillan, Executive Manager – Adult Social Work, said:

“We’re really pleased to be able to open this second Living Well Hub in Shetland, offering point of contact for health and social care services.

“We hope that this informal setting will be something that people in the Scalloway, Tingwall, Trondra and Burra communities find easy to access.

“Our staff will be happy to speak to anyone who gets in touch.”

The Living Well Hub in Scalloway can also be contacted by telephone on 01595 744120 or on livingwellhub@shetland.gov.uk
