An extraordinary evening of cinema and solidarity is coming to Lochaber later this month.

On Saturday 28 June, the Kilmallie Community Centre in Corpach will welcome audiences for the Lochaber Palestine Shorts Film Festival, a heartfelt celebration of Palestinian voices and stories.

Running from 7pm to 10pm, the festival offers a moving collection of short films that shine a light on the resilience, creativity and unbreakable spirit of Palestinian filmmakers.

This community-led event is part of ongoing local efforts to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine, bringing together powerful works that explore life under occupation, cultural identity and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

The carefully curated line-up begins with Ambience, a 15-minute short directed by Wisam Jafari.

The film follows two young Palestinians living in a refugee camp as they try to record a demo for a music competition.

Amid the daily chaos of camp life, they discover an unexpected solution that captures both their talent and their determination.

Vibrations from Gaza offers a rare and deeply affecting perspective on the impact of war.

Running for 16 minutes, the film follows deaf children in Gaza who experience the bombings not through sound but through the terrifying vibrations that ripple through their world.

It challenges audiences to confront the true human cost of conflict.

In The War Inside Us, viewers meet four Palestinian students who find themselves far from home.

Over 23 minutes, their candid reflections reveal how they draw strength from each other while wrestling with displacement, identity and the longing for belonging.

The evening will also feature The Big Lie III: Censoring Palestine, a searing 75-minute documentary produced by Platform Films.

The film explores how voices speaking out for Palestine have been systematically suppressed across media, education and activism in the UK and beyond.

Featuring contributions from Ken Loach, Roger Waters and others, it offers a sobering examination of censorship and silencing.

Entry to the festival is by donation, with all proceeds going towards a range of causes close to the organisers’ hearts.

Funds raised will support the running costs of Lochaber Solidarity with Palestine, Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), the Palestine Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainability, and The Gundelia Trust.

Full booking details, along with a QR code for easy access, are available on the event poster and online at https://bit.ly/LSPshortfilmfest.

For those attending, this promises to be far more than an evening at the cinema.

It is a rare chance to experience authentic Palestinian storytelling and to stand shoulder to shoulder with a people whose voices continue to resist erasure through art, memory and unyielding hope.
