Moray MSP and Scotland’s new Minister for Small Business that includes responsibility for tourism, Richard Lochhead, has welcomed Visit Scotland’s optimism for the tourist season ahead and the high demand for attractions and events in the region.

Commenting Mr Lochhead said:

“Tourism is one of Scotland’s biggest success stories and is a much valued part of Moray’s economy, so I am delighted that it falls within my new ministerial remit.

“There’s no doubt it has been a tough few years for the industry with the impact of the pandemic and soaring inflation but I’m obviously very keen to support the sector as it rebuilds.

“Moray and Scotland have such a unique brand and offering for visitors and I very much welcomed Visit Scotland’s optimism about the season ahead, with attractions and events in the region already experiencing high levels of demand.

“A busy tourism season can only mean good news for Moray’s wider economy as businesses across many sectors will benefit from high visitor numbers to the region.

“I look forward to visiting some of Moray’s tourist hotspots over the weeks and months ahead and to meeting with local stakeholders in due course.”
