Lovat Reach Balliemore Final as Goals Flow Across The Highlands

Shinty action continued across Scotland on Saturday 27th June 2026, with cup competitions, league fixtures and youth matches delivering another busy weekend of goals across the Highlands.

Lovat booked their place in the Ferguson Transport & Shipping Balliemore Cup Final after a composed 2–0 victory over Beauly in the semi final.

After a closely fought encounter, Graeme MacMillan broke the deadlock on 73 minutes before Sergio Thomson added a second five minutes later to send Lovat into the final.

Earlier in the competition, Inveraray overcame Bute 5–3 in an entertaining quarter final, with Coll MacKay grabbing a hat trick and Ross Montgomery adding two goals in a high scoring encounter.

The Highland Industrial Supplies Sutherland Cup quarter finals also produced goals in abundance.

Kinlochshiel edged one of the games of the season, defeating Newtonmore 6–4 thanks to four goals from Jay MacRae, while Fort William recorded the biggest scoreline of the weekend with a commanding 10–0 victory over Bute.

Lochside Rovers completed the semi final line up with a convincing 5–0 win over Skye.

In the Premiership, Kingussie continued their strong run with a 3–1 victory over Kinlochshiel, while Newtonmore swept aside Lochaber 7–0 and Oban Camanachd secured an impressive 5–1 win against Caberfeidh.

Several league fixtures fell victim to the weather, but there was still plenty of action elsewhere.

Inveraray followed up their midweek victory over Ballachulish with a thrilling 5–3 Balliemore Cup success over Bute, while Lovat’s midweek 5–0 win over Strathglass maintained their impressive form.

North Division 1 saw Inverness secure a 2–0 victory away at Caberfeidh, while Kingussie defeated Strathglass 5–1.

South Division 1 delivered one of the most entertaining matches of the weekend as Aberdour and Ardnamurchan shared eight goals in a dramatic 4–4 draw.

North Division 2 produced more eye catching scorelines, with Beauly defeating Lochcarron 7–1 and Kilmallie overcoming Lochaber 5–3.

In the women’s game, Badenoch continued their impressive season with a 10–3 victory over Inveraray, while Aberdour defeated Strathglass 14–2 and Kilmallie swept aside Uddingston 14–0.

Youth shinty also delivered plenty of action, with Kingussie defeating Caberfeidh in the National Under 17 League, Fort William recording an 8–1 win over Lochaber and Glenurquhart edging Kinlochshiel Lochcarron 4–3 in the Under 14 League.

Across every level of the game, the goals continue to flow as cup competitions reach their latter stages and league campaigns gather momentum.
