A 44-year-old man has been charged in connection with the sexual assault of an eight-year-old boy at a campsite in Drumnadrochit, police have confirmed.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday 31 July, at the Loch Ness Bay Campsite, when the child was reportedly approached inside his tent between 12.20am and 1am.
Following his arrest, the man is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today, Tuesday 2 September.
Detective Superintendent Calum Smith thanked the public for their help during the investigation.
“We would like to thank the local community for their support during our investigation, in particular local businesses and those who came forward with information,” he said.
Police confirmed that a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
The incident has shocked the local area, with officers continuing to offer support to the child and family involved.
