A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a series of sexual and violent offences committed against five women over more than a decade.
Dean MacGregor was found guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh in December 2024, following offences carried out between 2010 and 2023.
The crimes took place across Tayside and the Orkney Islands, involving sustained abuse over several years.
He was sentenced today, Wednesday 22 October 2025, also at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Detective Inspector Gordon Patullo, who led the investigation, said MacGregor’s actions had caused prolonged suffering.
“MacGregor is a violent and abusive individual who inflicted prolonged suffering on these women and demonstrated complete disregard for the impact of his actions,” he said.
“We recognise how challenging these investigations can be for those who have experienced abuse and I hope this sentence offers some form of closure to those affected by his behaviour.”
Police Scotland has urged anyone experiencing domestic or sexual abuse to come forward.
“Anyone who is currently experiencing, or has previously experienced, domestic or sexual abuse is encouraged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or reach out to one of our partner agencies,” said DI Patullo.
Support is available from a wide network of organisations, including Women’s Aid, Rape Crisis Scotland and local services across the Highlands and Islands.
