Gerald Hever has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for a series of sexual and violent offences committed against three women over a 24-year period.
He was jailed at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, 1 September 2025, following a complex investigation into offences that took place between 1996 and 2020 in Inverness-shire and Moray.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Hever was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and handed a 20-year non-harassment order.
Detective Constable Lauren Barron, who led the investigation, described the case as harrowing.
“Hever carried out appalling acts of sexual and violent abuse against the three women,” she said.
“Following a complex investigation, he has been brought to justice and this sentence reflects the seriousness of his offending.”
DC Barron also urged others affected by sexual abuse to come forward.
“We remain committed to investigating all reports of sexual crime, regardless of when it happened.
“We will do everything in our power to support victims and all reports are treated sensitively,” she said.
“I would encourage anyone who has experienced or who is experiencing sexual crime to report it to us on 101.”
The case highlights the enduring impact of gender-based violence and the continuing efforts by Police Scotland to seek justice for survivors, no matter how much time has passed.
