A major drugs seizure in Buckie has led to a man appearing in court today after officers recovered Class A drugs with an estimated street value of almost £300,000.

Police stopped a 39 year old man in the New Street area of Buckie at around 8pm on Thursday 18 June as part of an operation targeting drug crime in the Moray town.

During the stop, officers discovered Class A drugs with an estimated street value of £295,000 and arrested the man in connection with drugs offences.

The seizure represents one of the more significant drugs recoveries in the area and forms part of ongoing efforts by Police Scotland to disrupt the supply of illegal drugs and target those involved in organised criminal activity.

Following the arrest, officers carried out further enquiries at a number of addresses in Buckie.

As a result of those investigations, a woman was arrested in connection with possession of Class B drugs.

She has since been charged and is due to appear in court at a later date.

The 39 year old man is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today, Monday 22 June.

Police say tackling the supply of illegal drugs remains a priority and have urged members of the public to continue reporting information and concerns.

Detective Inspector Andrew Wilson said:

“We know that drug crime is a concern for our local communities and we will continue to disrupt drug supply those involved in this form of criminality.

“Anyone with information or concerns should report these to us so that we fully investigate.”
