A 24-year-old man was taken to hospital after being assaulted in Maggie’s Wood, Dingwall, on Friday evening.
The incident happened around 5pm as the man was walking between Millbank Road and West Drive.
He was later treated at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Police are now asking anyone who may have seen something or who has footage from the area to come forward.
The man believed to be responsible left the area on foot, heading towards Millbank Road.
He is described as being of Asian appearance, aged between 20 and 30, around 5ft 10in tall, with a medium build, short black faded hair and no facial hair.
He was wearing a navy-blue t-shirt, a black jumper tied around his waist, black jeans and black trainers.
Constable Dan McArthur said officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have been nearby at the time.
“We’re asking people who were walking or driving in the area to think back, did you see anything unusual or anyone matching this description?” he said.
“If you have home security cameras, or a dashcam that might have picked something up, please take a moment to check.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2555 of Saturday 6 September.
