Man Who Died in Shetland Crash Named as Magnus Sinclair

Police have named the man who died following a single vehicle crash near Burra as Magnus Sinclair.

Emergency services were called around 8.50pm on Thursday, 2 April, 2026, to a collision involving a silver Toyota Avensis at Bridge End.

Mr Sinclair, 83, was pronounced dead at the scene and his family has been informed.

The road was closed while investigations were carried out and reopened around 5.40pm on Friday, 3 April, 2026.

Officers from Police Scotland are continuing enquiries into the circumstances of the crash.

Road Policing Sergeant Neil MacDonald said:

“Our thoughts remain with Mr Sinclair’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank the public for their support during our enquiries.

“We continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the crash, has dashcam footage which may assist our investigation, or anyone who was in the area at the time and has information about what happened, to come forward.”
