Meallmore is celebrating a remarkable hat trick after taking home three major honours at the Scottish Care National Care Home Awards.
The ceremony, now in its twenty first year, brought together care home staff from across Scotland to recognise outstanding commitment, imagination and compassion in the sector.
Meallmore’s night began with a surprise.
Mary Preston, the organisation’s Chief Operating Officer, was honoured with the Strategic Contribution Award, a rare accolade reserved for individuals who have shaped the direction of Scottish care through years of leadership and influence.
The judges described her as a true leader in care, and the room rose for her as she collected her award.
The success continued with Meallmore winning the Training, Learning and Staff Development Award for its Academy of Care Kitchen Excellence, a programme that takes colleagues from entry level kitchen roles all the way to Head Chef, creating genuine career pathways within a sector that relies heavily on skill and confidence.
St Modan’s Care Home in Fraserburgh added the third award of the night, taking home the Care Innovation Award for its sensory space, a project designed to support residents living with dementia or brain injuries.
The room, created with insight from staff and families, has helped residents relax, reconnect and find moments of calm, and played a major part in St Modan’s receiving grade six across the board from the Care Inspectorate this year.
The awards were held at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow and hosted by Dr Donald Macaskill and Michelle McManus.
Mary Preston said she felt humbled and delighted to be recognised, adding that she has always been fortunate to work with remarkable colleagues who share the same values.
She praised the night as a celebration of a sector that rarely gets the recognition it deserves.
Meallmore CEO Cillian Hennessey said he could not be prouder of the teams behind the wins, calling Mary a force for good in Scottish care whose impact stretches far beyond the organisation itself.
He praised the St Modan’s team for their creativity, compassion and belief in what person centred care can achieve, and commended Group Hospitality Manager Jody Marshall and his team for building an Academy that is already transforming careers and standards across Meallmore homes.
The results underline Meallmore’s ongoing commitment to high quality care, strong training, and investment in staff, ensuring residents receive support delivered with dignity, confidence and compassion.
The organisation currently operates twenty seven homes across Scotland, with two more in development to serve Aberdeen City and Broughty Ferry.
