Childcare providers, schools, employers, training providers and community organisations from across Moray are being invited to come together in Elgin this month to help shape the future of childcare across the region.
The Moray Childcare Network Event will take place at the AGBC Conference Centre at UHI Moray on Friday 21 August from 9am until 1pm, bringing organisations from across the sector together for a morning of discussion, collaboration and planning.
Organised through Moray Pathways and Moray Council’s Employability Team, the free event is intended to strengthen connections between organisations while highlighting projects, opportunities and developments affecting childcare locally and nationally.
Around 70 places have already been booked, with capacity for up to 120 people, and organisers are encouraging anyone involved in childcare, education, employability, community development or family support to take part.
Those attending will hear from a range of speakers and have an opportunity to share their own experiences and ideas as discussions turn towards the future needs of children, families and childcare providers across Moray.
Moray Council Leader Councillor Kathleen Robertson will open the event, with Laura Mitchell MSP and Scottish Government Senior Policy Officer Karen Fraser also due to attend.

“High-quality childcare plays a vital role in supporting children, families, communities and local businesses.
“This event is a fantastic opportunity for organisations across Moray to come together, share knowledge and build the partnerships needed to strengthen childcare provision for the future.
“We know that good childcare helps parents access employment and training opportunities, supports children’s development and contributes to the wellbeing of our communities.
“I would encourage anyone working in or connected to the childcare sector to come along and be part of the conversation.”
The event comes against a backdrop of ongoing work across Moray to improve childcare provision while developing the workforce needed to provide those services in the years ahead.
It will also give organisations working in different parts of the sector an opportunity to make connections that might otherwise be difficult to establish during their everyday work.
That wider collaboration is particularly important because childcare reaches well beyond the provision itself, helping parents return to work or training while supporting children’s development and contributing to stronger communities.
With dozens of places already taken, the remaining spaces are open to people and organisations with a role or interest in building the next generation of childcare provision across Moray.
