Moray Council has agreed to fund £80,000 of repairs to the recently damaged Pittendreich Bridge.

The bridge on the B9010, also known locally as the Allarburn Bridge, was damaged by a Heavy Goods Vehicle on Saturday 13 May.

Currently open to vehicular traffic, with temporary traffic lights for safety, the bridge is the route used for diversions from other roads closed due to bridge damage.

Closing the route would create a diversion of around 25 miles.

Council Leader, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said:

“Given this is the only route currently open in the area, council confirmed they’re content to use reserves to fund the repairs.

“We’re confident we can recover the costs in relation to the incident and we’re grateful to the driver for contacting the council to allow this process to take place.”
