Following Moray Council setting most charges for 2024/25 in January, elected members have now approved the cost for Fitlife? membership, which will be introduced from 1 April 2024.
The monthly individual membership price will increase by £1 to £24.
This makes an annual cost of £288.
Family (one adult) membership for one month will increase by £2 to £32 or £384 a year.
A family with two adults membership will be £34 a month or £408 a year.
A new, 7-day visitor membership option will also be introduced from April at a cost of £14.
This visitor membership is also available for 14 days for £28.
This is aimed at short-term workers, holidaymakers, visitors, students and offshore workers who may not need a full month’s access but are keen to use Moray’s leisure facilities.
Further proposals on the future of leisure services will be made at a meeting of the council in coming months.
This will also take into consideration the Fitlife? membership scheme.
A £75 per ceremony fee was also introduced for individual, private citizenship ceremony requests.
Citizenship Ceremonies are held monthly by the Registration Service at no cost to the individuals and will continue.
However, an increasing number of requests for individual ceremonies outwith the monthly date means costs need to be recovered.
The cost will remain £75 regardless of whether or not the individual ceremony is for one person, a couple or family.
Moray Council Leader, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said:
“Our membership remains one of the cheapest family leisure memberships in Scotland as well as in Moray itself.
“But we also need to be realistic with the increase in costs to provide leisure facilities, hence a small increase is necessary just now.
“As a council we’re looking ahead to how our leisure services can be delivered sustainably in future and I hope people in Moray continue to make good use of our facilities for fitness, leisure and family activities.”
