A 56 year old motorcyclist has died following a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on the Isle of Lewis on Saturday 22 August.
The collision happened at around 4.40pm on the A857 Ness to Stornoway road near New Park, Newmarket, and involved a black BMW S1000 RS motorcycle and a silver MG.
Emergency services attended and the motorcyclist was taken to Western Isles Hospital, where he later died.
His family are aware.
No other injuries were reported following the collision.
Police Scotland has confirmed that the 44 year old male driver of the car has been arrested in connection with the incident as enquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The A857 was closed while officers carried out investigations at the scene.
It reopened at around 5am on Sunday 23 August.
Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw either vehicle before it happened, to come forward.
Officers are also particularly interested in hearing from motorists who were travelling in the area and may have relevant dash cam footage.
Police Sergeant Scott MacDonald said:
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died as a result of this crash.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or the vehicles prior to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam footage that could assist to get in touch.”
