MV Corran Remains Out of Service as Repairs Continue

The MV Corran remains out of service following a technical fault, with repairs ongoing after the vessel was withdrawn shortly after returning from its annual refit.

The ferry returned to its home mooring at Ardgour on 11 March 2026 but developed an issue with its forward prop unit the following day.

The vessel was immediately taken out of service to allow engineers to investigate and begin repairs.

The Maid of Glencoul has been operating as the relief vessel since then and will continue to run the normal timetable until further notice.

Specialist engineers worked on the vessel throughout last week and into the weekend up to 22 March.

However, further work is still required to resolve the issue, with engineers due to return later this week to complete repairs.

Updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.

Passengers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys while the relief vessel remains in operation.

The Maid of Glencoul has a smaller vehicle capacity, steeper ramps and a slightly longer crossing time than the MV Corran.

Restrictions are also in place, with dangerous goods not permitted during this period and specific limits affecting larger vehicles.

Real time service updates are available through official Corran Ferry channels, including social media and the service website.

The Highland Council has apologised for the disruption caused by the vessel being out of service.

Officials say restoring the MV Corran to safe operation as quickly as possible remains the priority.

They have also acknowledged the impact on local communities and thanked engineers for their ongoing efforts to complete the repair.
