Nairn’s Post Office is set to move to a new home on the High Street, with longer opening hours and improved access for the community.

The branch will relocate from its temporary base on Cawdor Street to Strachans Newsagents, 18 High Street, in August.

The current branch will close at 5pm on Monday 11 August, with the new site opening at 2pm the following day.

The move means locals will have 46.5 hours of Post Office services each week, an increase of 13.5 hours, including Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons.

The refurbishment of Strachans Newsagents has created two low‑screened Post Office counters alongside the shop’s retail counter, ensuring a seamless service.

Customers will continue to have access to the same wide range of services, from everyday banking and bill payments to mail, parcels and identity checks.

The new site will also bring an end to lunchtime closures, making it easier for people to visit throughout the day.

Kenny Lamont, Post Office Regional Change Manager, said the move secures a long‑term home for Nairn’s services.

“We are delighted to have a new operator to provide a permanent location for Nairn Post Office, which will safeguard service to the community,” he said.

“The community will also benefit from longer opening hours too.”

The new branch is only 130 metres from the current location, along mostly level ground, with nearby roadside parking.

The building offers step‑free access, a wide entrance and a hearing loop for customers who need it.

Alternative branches will be available during the changeover, including Lochdhu Post Office on Moss Side Road and Forres Post Office on the High Street in Moray.
