Lidl teams up with National Trust for Scotland to share ‘picnic-perfect’ places for a spot of lunch this National Picnic Week, alongside great quality Scottish produce to pack.

The project – which aims to encourage Scottish families to enjoy the great outdoors this summer – comes as the latest Lidl Book of Big Adventures hits stores across the country today in conjunction with the National Trust for Scotland – the conservation charity that for 90 years has saved, maintained and shared many of the country’s most loved places.

From Crathes to Culzean, the top six locations revealed include:

Crathes Castle, Aberdeenshire – This handsome castle just a short drive from Aberdeen city centre makes for a stunning lunch location.

House of Dun, Montrose – After discovering the new exhibits at this historic house, enjoy a picnic in the grounds with views out over the River Tay.

Brodie Castle, Inverness – With a quirky, colourful history, this castle is also home to Scotland’s biggest bunny sculpture!

Inverewe Gardens, Highlands – This beautiful garden overlooks Loch Ewe where, if you’re lucky, you might spot seals or otters.

Newhailes House & Gardens, Edinburgh – With woodland walks and views across the Forth, this is the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat.

Culzean Country Park, Ayrshire – This vast country park offers plenty of spots for family picnicking in woodlands, beaches and gardens.

Alongside the best places to enjoy lunch, Lidl has scrumptious Scottish-sourced picnic favourites available at stores across the country during National Picnic Week:

Scottish Rustic Rolls (4 pack) – £0.49

Oaklands Scottish Strawberries – £1.75

Deluxe Smoked Meats – Venison, Chicken or Duck – £2.79

Deluxe Smoked Salmon with Lemon & Pepper – £2.99

Deluxe Black Pepper Crowdie, Dornoch Brie & Highland Blue – £1.79 each

With a long-standing commitment to Scotland’s food and drink industry, Lidl boasts over 400 products from over 60 Scottish suppliers all year-round.

Mark Bishop, Director of Customer & Cause for the National Trust for Scotland said:

“The Trust is full of picnic places to love and it was hard to choose just six!

“We’re looking forward to welcoming families across the country this National Picnic Week, as they love the time they spend together, exploring our beautiful sites.”

Ross Millar, Regional Director at Lidl GB comments:

“At Lidl, we’re ‘Big On’ supporting families across Scotland to lead healthy and active lifestyles and our exclusive booklet is packed with fun activities for our customers and their little ones from rock pooling to picnicking!”

Lidl Book of Big Adventures is available now at selected National Trust for Scotland properties and Lidl stores across Scotland.
