A brand-new city bus service will launch in Inverness next month, offering a vital transport link for communities across Crown, Kingsmills and Wester Inshes.
The new Service 100, operated by The Highland Council’s in-house bus team, will begin on Monday 4 August and run every weekday.
Designed to restore essential connections following recent route changes by Stagecoach, the service will offer a reliable off-peak link between the city centre and key destinations including Raigmore Hospital, Inshes Retail Park, the Stevenson Road area, the UHI Campus and Inverness Retail & Business Park.
With three journeys in each direction daily, the new route promises to support both local residents and visitors as they travel across the city for shopping, healthcare, education and leisure.
Councillor Ken Gowans, Chair of the Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee, welcomed the news.
“Our in-house team has acted swiftly to respond to the needs of our communities,” he said.
“When commercial operators stepped back from certain routes, we were able to step in and ensure people aren’t left behind.
This is what public transport should be about, reliability, responsiveness, and putting people first.”
Cllr Gowans also praised the Council’s commitment to flexible transport solutions.
“Investing in council-run services means we can adapt quickly when circumstances change,” he added.
“I want to thank the team for pulling this together at pace.”
The full timetable for Service 100 will be available soon via the Highland Council website.
