A new award which will recognise a business or individual who adapted to face challenges due to the Coronavirus pandemic has been launched.

Moray Business Women’s Club has created the Covid Recognition Award and women in business are being encouraged to apply.

The new award was announced at the organisation’s online award launch on Thursday (September 17) and will recognise the accomplishments of businesses that have reacted to the Coronavirus pandemic by either adapting their own business model or by supporting the community.

Clare Lock, president of Moray Business Women said:

“We have watched the Moray business community rise to the challenges faced in light of COVID-19 with huge admiration and we feel it is only right to recognise this.

“Whether you’re a business which has been making PPE, have been providing lunches for front line workers, or even if you have found your company has been able to reduce local unemployment levels by hiring more staff during this time of crisis, we’re keen to hear your stories and experiences.

“We know lots of businesses in Moray have really struggled during the pandemic and many are still facing difficult times and uncertainty, but we want to celebrate the success stories and recognise all the hard work during these past few months.

“If you have a coronavirus success story, we would love to hear from you.”

The Moray Business Women awards are now in their 12th year and other categories include: Best New Product or Service which was introduced last year, Business Woman of the Year, Most Enterprising Business and Member of Inspiration, the winner of which is voted for by fellow Moray Business Women members.

Details about how the awards ceremony will take place are yet to be announced but Clare is encouraging as many women as possible to get their entries in.

“The committee is still discussing how best to run the awards this year.

“We hope we might be able to host an actual event as opposed to something online, but we are keeping an eye on the Government guidance and will make a decision over the next few weeks.

“All of our awards, apart from Member of Inspiration are open to all business women, whether they are a member or not so there is plenty of opportunity for women to enter and be recognised for what they do best.”

Application forms for all the award categories are available here.
