Children across the Black Isle and Cromarty Firth will soon see their playparks transformed after The Highland Council approved more than £180,000 in new investment.
The funding comes from the Council’s Capital Programme and the Scottish Government Play Park Renewal Fund, with priorities chosen through condition surveys and local feedback to make sure the upgrades go where they are most needed.
In Cromarty Firth, Evanton’s Teandallon park will gain a sensory area with a path, cableway and roundabout, while Novar Crescent will be landscaped to install previously purchased play items.
Milnafua in Alness and Averon playpark will each see an inclusive roundabout added, Saltburn in Invergordon will have surfacing upgrades and a new trim trail, Kirkside in Alness will receive a swing and seesaw, and Firhill will get a junior multiunit.
Across the Black Isle, Munlochy’s playpark will welcome a springy toy and climber, Townlands Park in Cromarty will have a new climber and fencing, and Cromarty’s Football Park will add a calisthenic unit and table tennis table.
Culbokie Recreation Park is set for a double cableway, trampoline and spinner, Gollanhead in Rosemarkie will get a basketball stand and hard standing, Resolis will receive new fencing, and King George V Road will enjoy a roller and zipline cableway.
Councillor Lyndsey Johnston, Chair of the Black Isle and Easter Ross Committee, said the upgrades would be felt across the community.
“This is great news for our communities,” she said.
“Playparks are vital spaces that help promote physical activity, social interaction and outdoor play for children and families.
“The funding we’ve secured will make a real difference.
“We’re pleased to be responding to local needs and investing in areas where the community will really feel the benefit.”
The Council will now work with Community Councils and local groups to finalise the designs, with a focus on modern safety standards and inclusive play opportunities for children of all abilities.
The investment is part of the Council’s wider commitment to improving public spaces and creating safe, welcoming areas that bring families together.
