A new landlord is being sought to take on one of Stornoway’s best known hospitality businesses.
Star Pubs has confirmed it is recruiting a new publican to run The Crown Inn, a 16 bedroom hotel and pub located just minutes from the Stornoway Ferry Terminal in the heart of the town.
The long established business offers traditional pub food alongside a wide selection of premium beer, cider, spirits and wine, and has built a reputation as a popular stop for visitors exploring the Outer Hebrides.
Occupancy is reported to be full during peak season, with the Isle of Lewis continuing to draw strong tourist numbers each year.
A spokesperson for the vacancy said:
“The Crown Inn is currently looking to recruit a new licensee to run this popular pub.
“Situated in the centre of Stornoway, we understand how important the pub is to the local area, so we are working hard to find the right person to step up into this business and serve the community for years to come.
“Anyone interested in this opportunity can apply through the Star Pubs website.”
The listing estimates potential turnover in the region of £1.1 million per year, with an annual rent of £120,000.
The spokesperson added:
“This is an exceptional business opportunity ideally situated for someone wanting a change of scene in the Scottish Islands, or an experienced hospitality manager wanting to expand their portfolio in this tourist hotspot.
“There is a lot of potential here.”
Internally, The Crown Inn features space for 70 dining covers, a main bar area, a lounge and a games zone with pool and darts.
The premises sit just off the main promenade in Stornoway and have historic links, including hosting King Charles during a visit to the islands in the 1960s.
Today, the business also promotes itself as having the largest selection of gin in the Outer Hebrides.
The spokesperson said:
“All that is needed now is for us to find the right person to take on this fantastic business.
“We’re looking for someone who has managed a pub or restaurant, is passionate about the hospitality and keen to take on a new challenge on this idyllic Scottish island.”
