The SNP’s 64 MSPs will today (Thursday) wear the white rose of Scotland, made famous by Hugh MacDiarmid in his poem “The Little White Rose”.
The rose has been worn by SNP members as they are sworn in at Holyrood since the Scottish Parliament was reconvened in 1999.
The Little White Rose by Hugh MacDiarmid:
The rose of all the world is not for me.
I want for my part
Only the little white rose of Scotland
That smells sharp and sweet – and breaks the heart.
