The Cromarty Firth branch of the Scottish National Party (SNP) are delighted to announce the selection of Odette Macdonald as its candidate for the upcoming Ward 6 by-election.

Odette, in her role as caseworker for Maree Todd, Caithness, Sutherland and Ross MSP and Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport has helped countless members of the public.

Macdonald previously ran in the September 2024 by-election created by the resignations of Molly Nolan and Pauline Munro.

Odette was eventually pipped to the post in the 10th round of vote transfer, despite receiving 403 first preference ballots.

Maree Todd said:

“People in Cromarty Firth need the steady hand of a high quality candidate like Odette.

“She knows what the job entails & will hit the ground running.

“In the years I’ve worked with Odette, I’ve always valued her kindness, her time for people and her compassion.

“Now is the time for her to bring those skills, experiences and care for people to the Highland Council ensuring that the voices of the people of Cromarty Firth are heard in the chamber.”

Odette said:

“My name’s Odette and it is an absolute honour to have been selected as the candidate for Cromarty Firth.

“I know the area well and I understand the challenges facing the people.

“I’m standing once again as your SNP candidate to help local people, protect local services, and make sure that Cromarty Firth gets a fair deal on roads, schools, and community support: all of which is being made possible by the ground breaking SNP/Independent administration’s £2 billion Highland Investment Plan.

“Only the SNP are focussed on the priorities of the people of Cromarty Firth and of Scotland and that why we are:

• Bringing back winter heating help for pensioners

• Eradicating child poverty

• Funding the NHS to cut waits and make it easier to see your GP

• Growing our economy and creating jobs

• Building more affordable homes.

“We already have a first class, hard working councillor in Tamala Collier, and I know – with your support – that I can be a partner to her, working to get the very best of Cromarty Firth.”

Vote Odette MacDonald #1.

Existing ward Councillor Tamala Collier agreed saying:

“I’ve known Odette for a long time and I can’t think of a better person to work with.

“We all know the challenges that Cromarty Firth has faced, alongside how much potential we have in our industry and in our people.

“Having someone like Odette to work alongside would allow us to grow and get the best for everyone in Ward 6.”
