Moray Council has launched a new service, which allows residents to sign up to pay their council tax online by Direct Debit.

Payment by Direct Debit offers the flexibility to choose from a number of payment options, which are:

  • over 10 months, from April to January;
  • over 12 months, from April to March;
  • weekly, on each Friday;
  • fortnightly, on alternating Thursdays;
  • quarterly;
  • six-monthly;
  • annually, on 30 June.

Residents can sign up online after receiving a council tax bill, by filling in a simple online form on the Moray Council website

Moray Council Leader, Cllr Kathleen Robertson, said:

“Paying your council tax by Direct Debit online brings numerous benefits, such as reducing your carbon footprint and saving time.

“It eliminates the need for postage, cheque writing and queuing at pay points, while also giving you peace of mind knowing your payments are made on time.

“Given that you can access the new service 24/7, it is also highly convenient.”

The 2025/26 council tax rates are yet to be set but residents will receive notification as normal.
