Orkney’s Most Popular Baby Names of 2024

The most popular names for Orkney’s newborn babies in 2024 have been shared by the Council’s Registrar Service.

In total, 146 babies – 82 boys and 64 girls – were registered with the service between 1 January – 31 December 2024.

This compares to 162 in 2023.

Harry was the most popular name for a peedie boy with three being registered in the past year, followed by two each for Charlie, Ernie, Finn, Fraser, Finlay, Harris, Noah, Ollie, Ruben and Ronnie.

The name favoured by parents for girls was tied with Una and Zara both being registered three times each with the local service.

This was followed by Alba and Ella, with two babies each being given these names.
