Overnight traffic restrictions on the A9 between the Jubilee Bridge and Ballinluig have been extended until Friday as work continues to prepare for the next stage of the major dualling project.

Temporary traffic signals and convoy working had been expected to finish on Tuesday 29 September, but will now remain in place for another three weekday nights.

The restrictions will operate at two locations between 7pm and 6am, with motorists being advised to allow additional time for their journeys.

Part of the work is required to enable construction of a temporary realignment of the A9 to the west of the existing road.

The temporary route will allow future construction work to take place as part of the A9 Dualling Tay Crossing to Ballinluig project.

It had originally been expected to come into use on Tuesday 29 September but will instead become operational from Thursday 1 October.

Drivers approaching the area are being asked to pay close attention to altered road signs and line markings as traffic begins using the temporary alignment.

Separate utility diversion work is also being carried out within the affected section of the A9.

That element of the project is expected to be completed by Friday 2 October, when the temporary traffic signals are due to be removed.

Road users have been asked to approach the area carefully and allow extra time while the overnight restrictions remain in place.

The programme remains dependent on weather conditions, meaning the dates could change if conditions affect the work.
