Three central Inverness streets are set for overnight resurfacing later this month as part of scheduled maintenance by Highland Council.

Bridge Street, Castle Road and Castle Street will be resurfaced over eight nights, beginning on Monday 29 September and continuing through to Wednesday 8 October 2025.

Work will take place overnight from 8pm until 6am each morning to reduce disruption.

There will be no works on the nights of Friday 3 or Saturday 4 October.

On the first night, crews will remove the existing road surface on Bridge Street and Castle Road and adjust any ironwork such as manhole covers.

New surfacing will be laid on both streets across the next two nights, Tuesday 30 September and Wednesday 1 October.

Castle Street will then be planed on Thursday 2 October, with resurfacing work scheduled for Sunday 5 and Monday 6 October.

Road markings will be replaced across all three streets during the final two nights, Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 October.

The Council says working overnight helps reduce disruption for drivers, public transport and city centre businesses during the day.

Pedestrian access will remain available throughout the works, and temporary signage will direct traffic as needed.

The project forms part of wider efforts to maintain the city centre’s busiest streets, with Bridge Street and Castle Street both providing access to key areas including the riverside, the Old Town and Inverness Castle.

Highland Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused and is encouraging residents to plan ahead while the works are ongoing.
