Two separate resurfacing projects are taking place on the A82 at Glencoe and near Onich, with overnight traffic management in place through to 20th of March.

The works are being carried out by BEAR Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland to improve road safety and surface conditions along key stretches of the route.

At Glencoe, resurfacing between Glencoe Village and Ballachulish will begin on Wednesday 4th of March and continue overnight until the morning of Friday 20th of March.

Work will take place between 7pm and 6am each night, with no operations on Friday or Saturday nights.

A lane closure with a 10mph convoy system controlled by temporary traffic lights will be in place overnight while teams are on site.

Traffic management will be lifted during the day, although a 30mph speed limit will remain while vehicles travel over a temporary surface.

Meanwhile near Onich, resurfacing at the South Loch Linnhe Picnic Area is continuing until the morning of Wednesday 4th of March.

Works at Bunree to Corran have already been completed.

At the Onich site the A82 is closed in both directions from 7pm to 6am Sunday to Thursday nights, with timed access provided at 8pm, between 9pm and 9.30pm, at 10.30pm, 11.30pm, 1am, 3am and 5am.

The road remains open between 9pm and 9.30pm to accommodate local bus timetables.

Emergency services access is being maintained at all times at both locations.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said:

“This resurfacing on the A82 will address existing defects in the road and renew road markings, significantly improving the quality and safety of the A82 for road users.

“Our teams will carry out these works overnight to minimise disruption, with safety as our top priority.

“We thank the local community for their patience while the works are completed.”

Drivers using the A82 through Lochaber are being advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys and check for the latest travel information while the improvements are under way.
