Overnight resurfacing works on the A82 in Fort William will begin on Sunday 10 May, with a three phase programme planned across key sections of the route.
The works, delivered by BEAR Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland, are aimed at addressing defects in the carriageway and improving the long term safety and resilience of the road.
The programme will run overnight between 7pm and 6am, with a convoy system in place to escort vehicles through the works at around 10mph.
No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights, and there will be a pause in activity between Monday 18 May and Thursday 21 May.
Outside of working hours, traffic management will be removed and the road will fully reopen during the day.
The resurfacing will be carried out in three phases covering different sections of the A82 through the town.
Phase 1 runs from Belford Hospital to Nevis Roundabout between Sunday 10 May and Wednesday 27 May.
Phase 2 covers Gleamer Garage to North Road Retail Park from Wednesday 27 May to Tuesday 9 June.
Phase 3 will take place on the A82 dual carriageway northbound between the West End and Transport Roundabouts from Tuesday 9 June to Monday 22 June.
Steve Taylor said:
“These essential resurfacing works will provide a significant upgrade to the existing road surface and allow for the installation of new road markings, improving both the quality and safety of the A82 through Fort William.
“We would like to thank road users, residents and local businesses for their patience while these important improvements are carried out.”
Drivers are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys while the works are underway.
