Overnight traffic signals will be in place along the A9 between Moy Rail Bridge and the B815 junction to Fort Augustus from Monday 29 September, as part of ongoing dualling works between Tomatin and Moy.
The temporary signals will be in operation for approximately five weeks, with works taking place nightly between 7:30pm and 6:00am, Monday to Friday.
The project involves sheet piling to support excavation and culvert installation along the route.
Traffic signals will be used at various points, but only one active location at a time to minimise delays.
While both lanes of the A9 will remain open, road users are advised to approach the area with care and allow extra time for their journeys during the works period.
There will be no overnight work on Saturday or Sunday nights, with operations resuming each Monday evening and concluding by Saturday morning.
Residents nearby should expect an increase in noise and ground vibration, although measures are in place to reduce the impact.
A vibratory hammer will be used instead of louder impact drivers, and the plans have been agreed in consultation with The Highland Council’s Environmental Services.
Pedestrian access and emergency service routes will be maintained throughout.
“These works are a key part of preparing the A9 for full dualling, improving safety and infrastructure in the area,” a Transport Scotland spokesperson said.
Drivers are advised to check the Traffic Scotland website for the latest updates, as the works are weather dependent and may be subject to change.
