Overnight Traffic Signals Set for A9 as Dualling Work Moves Forward

Drivers on the A9 will face overnight traffic signals and lane reductions from Monday 24 November as work begins on the Tay Crossing to Ballinluig dualling project.

The measures will stay in place for around four months, running through to March 2026.

The signals will operate each night between 19.30 and 06.00, Monday to Friday, with no work taking place on Saturday or Sunday nights.

The restriction is needed to allow crews to carry out site clearance and create temporary access routes for the next phase of construction.

The traffic signals will move along the stretch between Jubilee Bridge and Ballinluig as work progresses.

They will be manually operated when required to help keep traffic flowing.

A temporary speed limit of 30mph will be in place on approach to the works and throughout the controlled area.

During the Christmas period the traffic management will be lifted, with all signals removed between 17 December 2025 and 7 January 2026.

Pedestrian access and emergency access will remain open at all times.

The Scottish Government says safety is at the heart of the arrangements, both for the workforce and for road users travelling through the area.

Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to take care as they approach the works.

The schedule may change depending on the weather, with updates available through Traffic Scotland.

The project forms part of the long running effort to dual the A9, one of the most important routes in the country.
