Parklands Care Homes has announced plans for a multi million pound investment in care provision across the north and north east of Scotland, including its largest purpose built care home to date.

The independent care provider will invest more than £13 million in a new 60 bed care home on Banff Road in Turriff, alongside around £5 million to expand existing homes across the region.

The Turriff development is designed to meet rising demand for care, with Aberdeenshire’s population aged over 65 projected to grow by 23 per cent by 2028, outpacing the national average.

The new home will closely mirror Parklands’ recently opened Pittyvaich Care Home in Inverness, which features modern facilities including a salon, cafe, activities space and multiple dining rooms with outdoor terraces.

Outline planning consent for the Banff Road site was secured in 2024, with a detailed application due to be submitted shortly to Aberdeenshire Council.

Subject to approval, the Turriff home would become Parklands’ 14th care home and its second in Aberdeenshire, following the acquisition of Huntly Care Home in 2024, now operating as Deveron Way.

The new home is scheduled to open in summer 2027.

Alongside the Turriff project, Parklands is expanding capacity at several existing homes in the Highlands and Moray.

Plans include 12 additional beds at Innis Mhor in Tain, a further 12 beds at Lynemore in Grantown subject to consent, and four extra beds at both Eilean Dubh in Fortrose and Weston View in Keith.

Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands Care Homes, said the investment reflects long term commitment to meeting local needs.

“We are looking forward to bringing the Parklands standard of care to Turriff.

“We know that Aberdeenshire has a fast growing population of people aged 65 and over and our investment in a new 60 bed care home will help address the region’s care needs well into the future.

“We have been caring for older people in neighbouring Moray for more than 30 years, so we understand the challenges of providing care in remote and rural areas.

“That experience has also shown us how important it is to offer care within smaller communities, where people can stay close to family and friends.

“The size of our investment, our biggest ever, shows the scale of our commitment to support the growing care needs of Aberdeenshire.”

Parklands is currently in discussion with ethical lender Triodos Bank, which has supported the provider since 2021, including funding for Pittyvaich Care Home.

By 2027, Parklands expects to have delivered 150 new care beds across the north and north east over a two year period.

The organisation currently operates 13 care homes across Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands, employing around 900 staff and caring for approximately 500 residents.

In 2025, Parklands received national and regional recognition for its approach to care, wellbeing and community impact, including awards at the Care Home Awards, Highland Business Awards and Caring UK Awards.
