A free community drop-in event will be held in Fort William next month, giving residents and organisations a chance to shape the future of Lochaber.

The event, called Partnering for Progress, takes place at the Nevis Centre on Wednesday 12 November from 1pm to 7pm.

It is being delivered in partnership with Lochaber Community Partnership, Fort William 2040 (FW2040), The Highland Council, and Voluntary Action Lochaber.

The event will bring local groups, agencies and community members together under one roof to share ideas, explore opportunities, and discuss key priorities for the region.

There will be a range of live consultations and project updates, including on NHS care pathways, the proposed new Belford Hospital, local transport planning, community facilities, employability support and environmental action.

Visitors will also have the chance to speak to representatives from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Highland Council’s Community Regeneration and Engagement teams, Development Trusts Association Scotland, and the Local Employability Partnership.

Lochaber Area Committee Chair, Cllr Kate Willis, said:

“Partnering for Progress is a fantastic opportunity for residents, community groups, and organisations to come together and shape the future of Lochaber.

“This event reflects the strength of collaboration across our communities and the commitment to listening, supporting, and building together.

“I encourage everyone to drop in, share their views, and discover the incredible work happening across the area.”

Among the topics on display are the Fort William Integrated Transport Plan, plans for a new community space led by the Cow Hill Hall team, the Hi-Bikes and wayfinding project, and West Highland Museum’s Building Tomorrow’s Museum Together campaign.

There will also be updates on the Lochaber Health and Social Care Redesign, renewable energy projects, and the latest from the Fort William Business Improvement District and the West Highland Chamber of Commerce.

The event is open to the public and aims to promote collaboration across communities and sectors.
