For three decades the Peugeot Partner has been helping businesses get the job done, and as the iconic van celebrates its 30th anniversary the French manufacturer is marking the success of one of the best known light commercial vehicles on Britain’s roads.
More than 2.6 million Peugeot Partner models have been sold since the first generation arrived in 1996, making it one of the brand’s biggest success stories and a familiar sight with tradespeople, delivery drivers and businesses throughout the Highlands and across the UK.
Peugeot is also celebrating a decade of the Traveller, the versatile people carrier that has become a popular choice for professional passenger transport as well as larger families needing space, comfort and flexibility.
When the original Partner was launched it brought something different to the compact van market, combining generous load space with the driving comfort more commonly associated with passenger cars, while building a reputation for reliability and durability that has helped it remain one of Europe’s leading commercial vehicles.
The second generation arrived in 2008 with increased carrying capacity, improved efficiency and greater refinement before the current model, introduced in 2018 and updated in 2023, introduced Peugeot’s distinctive i Cockpit interior along with a fully electric E Partner, giving businesses the choice of electric, petrol and diesel power.
Peugeot has confirmed that a mild hybrid version will join the range from 2027 as the company continues to expand its electrified commercial vehicle line up.
To mark the anniversary, Peugeot has also introduced the new Partner Active, designed to provide an affordable entry point for businesses while retaining the practicality professionals expect, including the innovative Flexiseat system which allows the passenger seat to fold away to increase load space when required.
Later this year the company will unveil the new Partner Pro Skill at the IAA Transportation exhibition in Hanover, aimed at customers working in more demanding environments with increased ground clearance, underbody protection and enhanced off road capability.
Alongside the Partner, the Traveller has quietly established itself over the past ten years as one of Peugeot’s most versatile passenger vehicles.
Available in a range of seating layouts for up to nine people, the Traveller is offered with both electric and diesel powertrains and has become a popular choice for shuttle operators, businesses and families who need generous passenger and luggage space.
The model has also become closely associated with major international events, serving as a VIP shuttle at occasions including the BAFTA Film Awards, Cannes Film Festival, the César Awards and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
As businesses continue to adapt to changing technology and the transition towards lower emission vehicles gathers pace, Peugeot believes both the Partner and Traveller remain well placed to meet the needs of professionals for many years to come, building on decades of dependable service that have earned them a loyal following across Europe.
