Phased Return of Highland Council Parking Operations

Following the freezing of some charges and suspension of enforcement for others during the lockdown period, The Highland Council has been following a phased return to normal operations since the 26th of June.

Phase 1 – From 26th June

Enforcement of On-Street waiting & loading (yellow lines), On Street Disabled, Loading, Taxi and Bus Bays and other regulatory restrictions.

Re Introduction of On-Street Pay & Display and enforcement to allow customers to access shops and services.

Warning notices for 5 days then full enforcement.

Phase 2 – Before 3rd July

Open all closed rural Car Parks.

Phase 3 – from 13th July

Reintroduce Off-Street Parking Charges at all existing Off St Car Parks including the Inverness Multi Storey Car Park

Phase 4

All contract parking schemes will be re-introduced from the 31st July 2020. 

Parking permit renewals will be available from Monday 3rd August (online), but further information will be provided to customers in the run-up to that date

A Highland Council spokesperson said:

“We would like to thank drivers for their assistance and understanding as our services are been re-introduced. 

“As streets get busier we need to maintain access to businesses and services for all.”
