Visitors heading to this year’s Inverness Highland Games are being urged to plan ahead, as a number of temporary road restrictions will be in place across the city on Saturday 12 July.

The closures and parking limits will be active between 10am and 11.30pm, to ensure public safety throughout one of the city’s busiest summer events.

Several routes near Bught Park will be closed to traffic, including parts of Bught Avenue, Bught Road and Ness Walk Upper.

Drivers should also be aware of restricted vehicle movements at key junctions.

No turns will be permitted from Bught Drive into Torvean Avenue, or from Bishops Road into Ballifeary Road.

Traffic will also be restricted from Glenurquhart Road into both Ballifeary Lane and Ballifeary Road, and from Ballifeary Road turning back onto Glenurquhart Road.

In addition to closures, waiting restrictions will be in place on Glenurquhart Road, Ballifeary Lane, Torvean Avenue and Bught Drive, as well as parts of Island Bank Road and Drummond Crescent.

These measures are designed to keep everyone safe and ensure smooth access for emergency and event services on the day.

Highland Council and event organisers are encouraging road users to check routes in advance and allow extra time for travel.

Whether you’re heading to the games or moving around the city, a little planning will help make the day smooth and enjoyable for everyone.

A full breakdown of the affected roads is available from the Highland Council’s travel updates page.
