Detectives are appealing for information after a fire was deliberately started at a home in Tain in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The blaze broke out around 3am on 15 October at a property on Burgage Drive, where the front door was set alight.

The fire was quickly extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured.

Police say the incident is being treated as wilful and are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward.

Detective Inspector Calum Reid said:

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area around the time of the fire to contact us.

“No one was hurt, but this was a deeply concerning incident.

“I’d ask residents or anyone passing through to check their doorbell footage, home CCTV or dash-cam recordings, even the smallest detail could help us build a clearer picture.”

Enquiries remain ongoing and police have asked anyone with relevant information to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0310 of 15 October.
