Police are appealing for witnesses after a 43 year old man died following a two vehicle crash on the A867 near Lochmaddy in North Uist.
The collision happened at Loch A’Bhruid at around 8.55pm on Wednesday 30 September and involved a black Mercedes A Class and a black Kia Ceed.
Emergency services attended and the 43 year old driver of the Kia was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, where he died a short time later.
A 36 year old man was taken to Benbecula Hospital for treatment following the crash.
The A867 remained closed for around 24 hours while officers carried out an investigation at the scene, before reopening at approximately 9pm on Thursday 1 October.
Road Policing officers are continuing enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and are asking anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward.
Police are also particularly keen to hear from motorists who were travelling in the area and may have dashcam footage which could assist the investigation.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died at this difficult time.
“Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to any witnesses to contact us.
“We’d also ask anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.”
