Police are appealing for information following a serious two vehicle crash in Shetland which left two people with serious injuries.

The collision happened at around 7.50am on Friday on the A970, north of the Voe Junction, and involved a white Suzuki SX4 and a grey Nissan X Trail.

Emergency services attended and both drivers, a man and a woman, were taken to hospital for treatment.

Police Scotland said both suffered injuries described as serious.

The A970 was closed while officers carried out investigations at the scene before reopening on the morning of Saturday.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said:

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle prior to get in touch with officers.

“I’d also ask that those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
