Police are appealing for information after a woman reported being seriously sexually assaulted in woodland near Oban.
The incident was reported to officers on Thursday 18 June and, following further enquiries, detectives now believe the assault took place at around 5.30pm on Friday 15 May in Dunollie Woods.
An investigation remains ongoing and officers are seeking information from anyone who may have been in the area at the time or who may have seen two men matching descriptions released by Police Scotland.
The first man is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, around 6ft tall, approximately 40 years old, of medium build, clean shaven and wearing a red baseball cap and black leather jacket.
The second man is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, around 5ft 2in tall, approximately 40 years old, of larger build, clean shaven and wearing a black tracksuit.
Police say extensive enquiries have been carried out since the incident was reported and are now asking the public to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation.
Detective Inspector Karen MacLennan said:
“Following initial enquiries we now have more information and are appealing to the public for help.
“Anyone who has even the slightest piece of information that could assist our enquiries, please get in touch.
“Local policing officers have been carrying out additional patrols in the area and engaging with people.
“If you have any concerns or information, please speak to them.
“Anyone who may have captured men matching this description on dash cam or CCTV footage is also asked to contact us.
“I am aware of online commentary relating to this incident and I would like to directly address that with the information provided to us and clarified in this witness appeal as we continue our investigation.”
Police Scotland has increased patrols in the area while enquiries continue and officers have been speaking to members of the local community.
Investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been travelling through the area around the time of the incident and who may have dash cam footage, as well as businesses or residents with CCTV systems that could have captured relevant images.

Police have stressed that even information that may appear insignificant could prove important to the ongoing investigation.
