Police are trying to trace the driver of a van which failed to stop after a 61 year old woman was knocked off her bicycle on the A822 near Dunkeld.

The collision happened at around 1.35pm on Monday 10 August at the junction between the A822 and B8063.

The cyclist was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment and was later released.

Police said the van involved in the collision did not stop and was subsequently seen travelling towards Dunkeld.

The make and model of the vehicle are not known, but officers have established that it was towing a distinctive open topped, tall, white metal trailer.

Enquiries are now underway to identify the vehicle and trace its driver, with police appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or subsequently saw the van and trailer to come forward.

Officers are also asking motorists who were travelling through the area around the time of the incident to check their dash cam footage.

Sergeant John McDiarmid said:

“We are carrying out enquiries to trace the van driver and asking for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

“If you saw this vehicle after the crash or know where it might be then please contact us.

“We are also asking for anyone driving in the area at the time to check any dash-cam footage to see if something has been captured that could assist our investigation.”
