Poll Shows Rising Support for Independence as SNP Pulls Ahead

A fresh wave of support for Scottish independence has emerged as a new Ipsos poll places the SNP firmly in the lead ahead of the next Holyrood election.

With a commanding 11-point advantage over Labour, the SNP has not only tightened its grip as Scotland’s largest party but has also been named the most trusted on the NHS, economy, education and cost of living.

It comes as Keir Starmer’s popularity nosedives, making him the least favoured political leader in Scotland according to the poll.

The survey also reveals that 52 per cent of voters would now back a Yes vote in an independence referendum, tipping the balance in favour of self-government.

For those who have long believed that Scotland’s future is best decided in Scotland, this is an encouraging sign.

Voters are sending a clear message that Westminster isn’t delivering.

SNP Depute Leader Keith Brown said the findings reflect a growing frustration with the Labour government in London.

He described the poll as proof that the SNP remains the party most trusted to deliver on the issues that matter most to people across the country.

“The Labour government has treated Scotland like an afterthought,” he said.

“We’ve seen cuts that hit disabled people hardest, and a complete lack of vision for tackling the cost of living crisis.”

Brown said that while Westminster continues to disappoint, more Scots are realising that independence is the only way to secure a government that truly acts in Scotland’s interests.

But he also struck a note of caution.

“This is not a moment for complacency,” he said.

“We remain focused on delivering for Scotland today, while offering hope for a fairer, better future.”

The SNP’s 25-point lead over Labour on who best represents Scotland’s interests stands out as a particularly strong endorsement.

It suggests the public sees the SNP as the only party seriously advocating for Scotland’s place in the world.

The poll comes at a time when questions around economic fairness, public services and political accountability are rising across the country.

For many, the status quo simply isn’t working.

This latest shift in public opinion could mark a turning point.

Momentum is growing, and the case for independence appears to be landing with more clarity and conviction than ever before.
