Postcode Checker Allows Moray Residents to Check for Scheduled Broadband Improvements

Must read

Moray households without access to superfast broadband are being urged to check when broadband improvements are due to be made in their area.

As part of the Scottish Government’s R100 broadband improvement scheme, superfast connections are being built and an engineering schedule detailing when upgrades are due to be made is available online by entering a postcode.

Those without a superfast connection may be eligible for a one-off voucher from the Scottish Government towards the cost of installing commercial broadband as an interim measure.

Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Growth, Housing and Environmental Sustainability Committee, Cllr Graham Leadbitter, said:

“The R100 programme of investment in superfast broadband will bring high-speed internet access to the vast majority of people and the pace of that work is ramping up.

“An acceleration in homeworking, brought on overnight by the pandemic and still largely in place as many continue to work from home to reduce the risk of spreading the virus, has made the need for this access to superfast broadband all the more pressing.

“The council is working in collaboration with OpenReach and other local telecommunications providers to ensure improved access is available to as many commercial and residential properties in Moray as possible, and to give individuals and businesses the access to superfast broadband they are anxious to have, as well as the social and economic advantages it brings.”
