One of Argyll’s most iconic coastal hotels is teaming up with a historic Highland distillery to host a one off food and whisky experience this spring.

The Pierhouse Hotel and Seafood Restaurant at Port Appin will stage the Sea and Spirit evening on Friday 27 March, marking the launch of a new partnership with Oban Distillery for 2026.
The event brings together Argyll seafood and Oban whisky in a specially curated pop up experience designed for lovers of food, drink and place.
For the first event in the partnership, head chef Michael Leathley has created a six course tasting menu celebrating the best of local produce drawn from land and sea.
Each course is paired with selected drams and a whisky cocktail from Oban Distillery, chosen to complement and echo the flavours of the coast.
The menu opens with Loch Creran oysters shucked on arrival and served with a choice of toppings, followed by Arbroath Smokie gougere made with smoked haddock and Isle of Mull Cheddar.
Further courses include Scottish lobster ravioli, shellfish broth with hand rolled pasta and 48 hour bisque, and baked halibut cooked in a seaweed salt crust and served tableside.
The tasting continues with Loch Leven mussels in cider sauce, smoked potato dauphinoise and seasonal cabbage.
Dessert features Highland Fold Farm sorbets from Achinreir Farm at Barcaldine, followed by a traditional Scottish cranachan with raspberries, honey, whisky, toasted oatmeal and shortbread.
The evening draws on the shared maritime heritage of Oban and Port Appin, where fishing, seafaring and whisky making have shaped local life for generations.
Founded in 1794, Oban Distillery is one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries and sits at the meeting point of the West Highlands and the Islands.
The Pierhouse Hotel is set on the shores of Loch Linnhe and is widely regarded as one of Argyll’s most romantic destinations.
The hotel’s restaurant holds three silver stars and two AA rosettes and is one of only three Argyll restaurants listed in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland.
Sea and Spirit takes place from 6.30pm on Friday 27 March, with tickets priced at £150 per person and places limited.
